Roc Oil Company (ROC) is a leading explorer and producer of oil and natural gas. Roc Oil listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 5th August, 1999. It listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in 2004. To date, ROC issued shares reaches up to 590 million, with over 250 people employed worldwide. The company’s assets are held in Australia, China, Africa and UK. ROC operations are principally focused on Asia. The company’s Australian and Chinese assets contribute circa 80% of the total production, with 90% of 2P Reserves. During 2007, the company carried out several exploration, development and production operations. Its portfolio of operations includes the Cliff Head Oil Field, offshore Perth Basin in Western Australia; the Basker-Manta-Gummy Oil and Gas Fields, Bass Strait in Australia and the Zhao Dong C&D Oil Fields, Bohai Bay, based in offshore China. ROC also operates exploration and appraisal assets in offshore Perth Basin in Australia; Beibu Gulf, offshore China; Cabinda South Block, onshore Angola and Belo Profund Block, offshore Madagascar. ROC merged with Anzon Energy Limited in September 2008 and acquired Anzon Australia Limited in October 2008. ROC is expected to carry out drilling operations at offshore Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania and Western Australia with an onshore well in Angola in 2009.
Roc Oil Company History
ROC was formed in 1996 by Dr John Doran as privately owned company. It listed on the ASX in 1999, and raised A$150 million through an IPO. During 1999, ROC acquired several oil and gas assets onshore eastern England and in the UK North Sea for A$115 million and acquired the onshore Saltfleetby gas field. In 2001, ROC made a significant discovery of Chinguetti Oil Field through welling operations in Africa. In 2001, it discovered the Cliff Head Oil Field in Australia, which commenced production in May 2006. It listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in 2004. ROC sold its Saltfleetby Gas Field in Lincolnshire for A$111 million in January 2005. In February, 2006 its Chinguetti Oil Field, (offshore Mauritania) started oil production. ROC made a significant oil discovery Wei 6 -12S -1, in Block 22/12, Beibu Gulf, offshore China and acquired an operated interest of 24.5% in the Zhao Dong Block, in Bohai Bay, offshore China for value US$260 million during the same year. In 2007, its Enoch Field and Blane Field began oil and gas production. It formed a merger with Anzon Energy Limited (AEL) on 8th September 2008. In 2008, ROC completed the off-market acquisition of Anzon Australia Limited (AZA). In October 2008, oil production from the C4 Oil Field and Extended Reach Area Fields of the C&D Fields in the Zhao Dong Block, Bohai Bay, offshore China commenced production.
