Oroya Mining (ORO)

Oroya Mining (ORO) is a gold, base metals and nickel exploration company with operations in Australia. Oroya listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) on November 6, 1986. Oroya’s exploration regions are held in Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. Oroya holds interests in 13 projects within a tenement holding in the Lachlan Fold Belt. Its project portfolio as at 17 July 2009 consisted of Roe Hills (nickel and gold) and Mount Barret (gold) projects in Western Australia; Club Terrace (gold), Mt Piper (gold), Beaufort (gold) and Ballarat North (gold) projects in Victoria; and Sofala (gold), Pambula (gold), Moruya (gold) and Craigie (gold) projects in New South Wales. Oroya’s both Beaufort and Ballarat North Gold Projects are Joint Ventures with Range River Gold Ltd. Oroya's regional Lachlan Fold Belt project which is prospective of high grade vein style gold deposits encompasses all of the Oroya’s Victoria and New South Wales based projects. Oroya is presently focused on the discovery of extensive gold mineralised systems in the under explored regions of the Lachlan Fold Belt through utilising its rapid exploration techniques. The Company is earning a 75% interest in the Steiglitz Project located in Victoria. On August 30, 2008, a drill testing program was started at the Steiglitz Project in order to test the northeast trending Hanover Fault, which is prospective for gold mineralisation, similar in style to the gold mineralisation occurring at Fosterville.

Oroya Mining History

Oroya Mining floated on the ASX on the 6 November, 1986. In May 2002, it completed the acquisition of the Mt Gibson Gold Project which enabled it to increase gold resource from 250,000 ounces to 837,700 ounces. The present gold resource is 11.5 million tonnes grading 2.26 (g/t).
