Origin Energy Limited (ORG) is an Australian-based company focusing on the oil and gas exploration and production, electricity generation, wholesaling and retailing of gas and electricity and investment in utility infrastructure management. ORG was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 13th of July 1961. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately $6 billion out of its issued capital of $400 million. Its headquarters is located in Sydney, Australia and to date; around 4,018 people are employed in the company.
The British Gas giant, BG Group, is back with its offer bid price of $15.50 a share for a hostile takeover of Origin Energy (ORG). Its offer had been earlier rejected its offer stating that the sale price has to be "a lot more" that $15.50 a share price. This time the BG has offered the price directly to its shareholders. It had earlier offered a price of $14.70 a-share price but had revised it by 48 percent to $15.50.

Australia’s Origin Energy Ltd. is the biggest producer of gas from coal seams. It rejected BG group’s offer last week for A$13.6 million or $13 million but stated that it still remains open for conversation for any fresh offers at the right price. It is also open to any fresh offers from any other interested bidders.

ORG's share price had increased from $1.20 to $10.00 in the 8 years since demerging from BLD. However, and with the benefit of hindsight, management's tardiness to jump on the LNG bandwagon and conservative approach to discussing its CSM resource are likely to cost management control and the Australian market one of its best performers.
