Metminco (MNC), incorporated in Australia, is an ASX and AIM listed mining exploration company with a 37.8% holding in Hampton Mining Limited (Hampton). Under the terms of an option agreement exercised 17 March 2010, MNC’s interest in Hampton will increase to between 55% and 69%.

Hampton has exploration projects located in Chile and Peru, mainly focused on copper, with significant exposure to gold, molybdenum and zinc. The projects range from mine pre-feasibility, through advanced exploration to grassroots exploration. MNC listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) on 2 October, 2007.

Hampton’s premier project is the Los Calatos copper and molybdenum porphyry deposit located in southern Peru, near and in a similar geological setting to three large existing copper-molybdenum porphyry mines. At Los Calatos, Hampton has initial estimated JORC compliant resources (at a 0.2% copper cut-off grade) of 262 million tonnes, made up of Indicated Resources of 69.2 million tonnes at 0.44% Cu and 510ppm Mo and Inferred Resources of 192.4 million tonnes at 0.42% Cu and 382ppm Mo. Hampton is currently completing a 11 hole / 10,000 metres drilling program.

Hampton’s other advanced projects are the Mollacas copper leach project and the Vallecillo gold-zinc project. Both these projects are located in Chile, approximately 500km north of Santiago. Nearby Hampton has two significant early stage gold-copper exploration projects: Camaron and Isidro. Metminco’s remaining exploration projects in Australia will be divested or relinquished.
