Macquarie Media Group (MMG) is a leading media investment company, with operations in two continents. The Company invests in a global portfolio of media assets. MMG is comprised of three entities Macquarie Media Trust (MMT), Macquarie Media Holdings Ltd (MMHL) and Macquarie Media International Ltd (MMIL). MMG operates a portfolio of radio stations in 44 licence areas within six states in regional Australia with the help of Macquarie Regional Radioworks (MRR). It listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 17th of November, 2005. MMG focuses its development through three business segments. Free to air commercial radio and television broadcasting (Free to air broadcasting) division has commercial radio and television broadcast licences all through regional Australia, with operations solely within the MMHL group. Community Newspapers is based the United States, and has operations within the MMIL group. Subscription Television & Broadband Internet Services (Cable) provides subscription television and broadband services through a cable network in operation in Taiwan (R.O.C.). MMG completed the acquisition of US community newspaper publisher ACM and SBC's regional TV stations in 2007. The Company sold its Cable segment on June 12, 2008. In June 2008, the Company sold its 60% economic interest held in Taiwan Broadband Communications to Macquarie Korea Opportunities Fund. The Company has a 100% shareholding in Macquarie Southern Cross Media and American Consolidated Media.
Macquarie Media Group History
Macquarie Media Group (MMG) was established on 1 September 2004, as a result of the acquisition of RG Capital Radio. RG Capital was the owner and operator of a network of 35 regional radio stations, mainly in Queensland and Tasmania as well as in NSW and Victoria. On 10 September 2004, MMG acquired DMG Regional Radio, the owner and operator of 57 regional radio stations. MMG became floated on the Australian Stock Exchange in November 2005.
