Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCG) is a company engaged in investing in communications infrastructure. MCG is also the holding company of Macquarie MCG International Limited and its controlled entities as well as Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Trust and its controlled entity. MCG was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 13th of August 2002. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately $733 million. Its headquarters is located in Sydney, Australia.
The communications infrastructure of MCG is engaged in providing physical facilities for electronic communications signals transmission. Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group considers investing in communications infrastructure assets that are situated in OECD countries and in countries with comparable economic performance or sovereign credit ratings as well as those countries displaying stable revenue growth, predictable cash flows and strategic characteristics offering opportunities for revenue enhancement by delivering existing services to the new customers as well as new services with the use of the company's existing assets, availability of shareholders as well as high barriers to entry that will allow the group to influence the business decisions, financial and commercial alike, key strategies, as well as the capable and experienced operational management team.
Included in the communications infrastructure businesses portfolio of MCG are: the operator and the owner of the national broadcast transmission services to the SBS and ABS, 100% shareholding in Broadcast Australia, regional television, other media, communications and telecommunications organizations, wireless site operator and broadcast service provider in UK and in Ireland, and 54% investment in Arqiva.
Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group Company History
Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCG) joined Australian Stock Exchange in 2002. Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Trust (MCIT) was founded in 2002 and entered as a Managed Investment Scheme in 2002.
Macquarie Communications Infrastructure was formed as Metropolitan Transit in Australia. The company's name was altered to MCIL in 2003. MCIL and Responsible Entity of MCIT signed a deed in 2002. Broadcast Australia (BA), MCG's division entered into a 15-year agreement for portal services with Southern Cross Broadcasting in 2004.
Macquarie MCG International (MMCGIL) was formed as MCIBL in 2004. The principal deed was revised in January 2005 to integrate MCIBL into the arrangements with MCIL and MCIT. 54% of NTL Broadcast was gained by m\MCG in January 2005. NTL Broadcast altered its name to Arqiva in May 2005.
Arqiva entered into an agreement to get the BT's Satellite broadcast Service's (BT SBS) full-time service component in November 2006. SDN, ITV's owned division chose Arqiva in March 2007 to supply new high-power digital terrestrial TV net work.
Full-time service components of BT’s Satellite Broadcast Services business in April 2007 were completely purchased by Arqiva. National Grid Wireless was also taken in April 2007. Arqiva gained exclusive permit to trade 1,275 T-Mobile tower sites in the same month. MCG and MEIF took 100% of airware O2 in the same month
