Jupiter Energy (JPR) formerly known as Westcoast Mining Limited (WML), is an oil and gas exploration company. JPR, through its 100% owned subsidiary Jupiter Energy (Victoria) Pty Ltd, has an agreement with Lakes Oil NL to acquire a 50% interest in PEP 163 located in the Otway basin, Victoria.

On 27 May 2005, the shareholders of Westcoast Mining Limited agreed to change the name of the company to Jupiter Energy Limited to reflect the company's new interests. The company listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) on 12 November 2003.

JPR is differentiated from its competitors as the bulk of commercial gas exploration has traditionally been completed on offshore wells in the Bass Strait. Its subsidiaries include Jupiter Energy (Victoria) Pty Ltd, Jupiter Biofuels Ltd, Jupiter Energy (Kazakhstan) Pty Ltd, Jupiter Energy Pte. Ltd and Jupiter Energy (NWZ) Pte. Ltd

Most oil is sold into global spot markets, whilst gas is typically sold under long-term contract arrangements with utilities, large industrial users and steel plants. Key competitors include Rio Tinto, BHP, CH4 Gas Ltd (CHX) and Bounty Oil & Gas (BUY).
