GPT Group (GPT or General Property Trust) is engaged in property investment. It is also the largest diversified property trust in Australia. GPT was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 1st of April 1971. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately AUD$836 million. Its headquarters is located New South Wales, Australia. GPT Group operates mainly in seven business segments: Office, Retail, Hotel & Tourism, Industrial, Funds Management, Seniors Housing, Corporate and Venture.
The activities of the office segment of GPT Group include office development as well as office space associated with retail space. The retail segment of the company on the other hand includes activities such as community, regional and sub-regional shopping centres new retail developments, retail re-developments and Homemaker City centres.
GPT Group's hotel & tourism segment focuses on activities in hotel assets and nature-based resorts while the industrial segment of the company includes business and traditional industrial park assets.
The fund management segment of GPT Group focuses on funds and assets management in Australia and this is done through the GPT Funds Management Limited while the senior housing segment focuses on activities such as investing in portfolio of USA's established seniors housing assets. The Company and Venture segment of GPT Group focuses on the Babcock & Brown joint venture investments.
GPT Group Company History
GPT Group was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in 1971. It went on to spread in next few years. GPT penetrated the expert planned city societies sector in 2003. Lend Lease and GPT won Rouse Hill Regional Centre for $1 billion. The company also acquired Twin Waters development project in 2003.
The complex of Homemaker City project found in Brisbane countryside was purchased by the company in March 2004. GPT took office of nine luxury resort that is nature-based from P&O Australian Resorts. In addition, six resorts in Cradle Mountain Lodge in Tasmania, Great Barrier Reef, Wrotham Park Station in Far North Queensland, and Silky Oaks Lodge in the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland were taken in July 2004. After a month, the board of the company suggested that GPT and Lend Lease Corporation to become one. The extension of Macarthur Square which is a retail property situated in Campbelltown near Sydney started in September 2004.
