Golden State Resources (GDN) is an exploration company primarily focused on natural gas and uranium projects located in the USA and gold projects in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. The company concentrates on acquiring projects that have the potential for rapid discoveries. GDN has entered into joint ventures with companies such as Newcrest Mining to take part in projects that require longer term exploration efforts. Golden State was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 9 July 1996.

The Company operates the Golden Eagle Gas field in Utah, United States and its Australian projects include the Johnson Range Iron Ore Project and the Crawfords Gold deposit. Its subsidiaries include Technology Resource Company Limited, Western Nickel Limited, Golden Paradox Inc and Golden Eagle Exploration LLC USA.

Golden State has a portfolio of projects in the Leonora, Laverton and Southern Cross districts of Western Australia, areas which was regarded as highly propsective for new gold discoveries.

The gold industry is very globally competitive, and is sensitive to economic and exchange rate fluctuations. Competing with ALK for exploitable gold reserves are explorers such as Equigold (EQI) and Dioro Exploration (DIO). Markets for both gold and nickel are global and customers include the wholesalers and the retail sector.
