FacebookEnergy Development (ENE) is a company engaged in the ownership, development and operation of power transmission, waste-to-energy conversion and power generation projects. It owns and manages a portfolio of 64 power stations and power generation facilities in Asia, Australia, Europe and the US. ENE was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 10th of November 1993. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately $176 million out of its issued capital of $329 million. Its headquarters is located in Queensland, Australia. Energy Development operates mainly in five business segments: coal mine methane (CMM), landfill gas power (LFG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and remote area power.
Energy Development (ENE) manages 55 landfill gas sites under its largest energy production department. A big portion of its revenue is generated from several sources such as providing its direct customers like the large energy retailers with electricity; generating and selling of environmental credits to third parties and managing LFG fields on behalf of the owners of the landfills.
A 20-year power purchase agreement was signed by the Energy Development and Western Power Corporation to supply electricity to the towns of Derby, Broome, Looma, Camballin, Halls Creek, in Fitzroy Crossing in West Kimberley in Western Australia.
Energy Developments Competitors
Energy Development (ENE) was founded in Australia in 1988 and it was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1993. In 1998, 100% of the Appin coal seam methane power situated in Illawarra district south of Sydney was taken by the company. In 1999, it extended in Europe after it signed agreements with France and Athens.
The company built a landfill gas power plant in Colorado, USA in 2000. It first sold greenhouse gas emission reduction to German electricity utility Humburgische Electricistats-Werke. It also established landfill gas power project in Nanjing, China.
Former Deputy Chairman Michael Brown replaced Richard Denton as Chairman in 2003. The company signed power purchase agreement with Western Power for 20 years in 2004. In February 2005, the company established energy projects totaling 18MW in UK and USA. It was built an 8MW LFG project at Pitsea.
Veolia Environmental Services China bought 49% stake of the company’s Cleanaway Energy services in October 2006. It finally established the 32MW German Creek Coal Mine Methane Project in November 2006.
In February 2007, 1 40MW new coal mine methane (CMM) power project at Anglo's Moranbah North Coal Mine in the Bowen Basin in Queensland was established after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Anglo Coal.
