CSR
CSR Limited (CSR) is a company engaged in sugar, aluminium and the manufacturing of construction and building materials. It has main operations in Australia, New Zealand and in Asia. CSR was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 31st of March 1962. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately $3 billion out of its issued capital of $919 million. Its headquarters is located in Chatswood, Australia and to date; around 4,000 people are employed in the company.
CSR has been allowed to have their shareholders vote on the company's bid on splitting up and demerging the company's sugar business. The full bench of the Federal court, The Chief Justice, Patrick Keane, and Justices Ray Finkelstein and Peter Jacobson, upheld CSR's appeal. CSR's demerger proposal can now be put to the shareholders for a vote.
CSR, a company that focuses on Aluminium, sugar and production of building materials was approached by China based food manufacturer Bright Food Group which placed its $1.5 billion bid for the renewable energy and sugars business of the company. The news is being considered as a sign that Chinese companies are now getting more interested about other business sectors of Australia. In the past, most of the Chinese companies kept their focus on the mining and energy sector of the country.
CSR has a maintained Hold / Medium Risk recommendation from Australian stockmarket analyst Macquarie Research Equities.
CSR Ltd: Building Products Surprise, Sugar Disappoints
Result Ahead — CSR's underlying result of $192.8m was ahead of our $181.0m estimate. The main areas of difference were a stronger-than-expected result in the property division and a weak result in sugar.
UBS has rated the CSR (CSR) stock as Neutral 2 with a share price target increasing from $3.05 to $4.50 and a valuation of $4.35-$4.60. The change comes after changes to the broker's commodity price forecasts have resulted UBS lifting its earnings estimates for the CSR by 15% in 2007 and more than 30% in 2008. Merrill Lynch has upgraded the rating for CSR Ltd (CSR) stock as Buy moving from Neutral, Medium Risk on forecasting profit in FY07 of $292m, above the consensus of $256m. Merrill Lynch have upgraded their rating as it expects earnings momentum and upgrades will continue to exceed expectations. Merrill Lynch has a stock price valuation for CSR of $3.87. CSR Ltd is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) under stock code CSR. Check your charts.
