Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) was the worst performer with a negative move of 18.2%. Among the worst performing stocks for the past trading week (week 13 for 2008) on the Australian sharemarket were a mixture of child care services, mining, energy and financial services: ABC Learning (ABS), Lihir Gold (LHG), Fortescue (FMG), Energy Resources Of Australia (ERA), Macquarie DDR Trust (MDT). These worst performing stocks for week 13 of 2008 were ranged from 13.8 percent to 18.2 percent in their losses.

ABC Learning, the child care service company was at the first position for the worst performing stocks of the ASX 100 index. ABC Learning was followed by Lihir Gold, a leading Asia-Pacific gold company with operations in Papua New Guinea and Australia closing at $3.72 and losing 32 cents (-7.9%). Fortescue, the metal and mining company with a market capitalisation of $20 billion was next in the line losing -$0.37 and closing at $6.58 (-7.9%). On the ASX 200 index, Energy Resources Of Australia, one of the largest uranium producers in the world, providing 10 per cent of the world's uranium production, became the first in the list closing at $19.70 and with a significant move of -$4.40 (-18.2%). Macquarie DDR Trust, which aims to give investors secure income and the prospect of capital growth, was at the second position with a move of -15.8% (close $0.40 -$0.08). Macquarie DDR Trust was followed by ABC Learning becoming the third in the worst performing stocks list for the ASX 200 index. Centro Retail (CER), the retail business company was the next in the line closing at 31 cents and losing 4 cents (-10.1%).
