Let's take a some time out from talking about uranium, stocks and Telstra. It's ANZAC Day here in Australia today so the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) is closed for the day. ANZAC Day is celebrated on the "25th of April every year to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), and of all those who served their country. The ANZAC tradition began during World War I with a landing in 1915 at Gallipoli on the Turkish Aegean coast."

Thanks to that historical event at ANZAC cove in Turkey in World War I, we have a day off from work to honour the dead who sacrificed their lives in war. Some people argue it is a day that glorify war. I don't agree - its simply a day to honour those that served their country and those who are serving now. Of course, you can look into the issue deeper and argue your points. I prefer to look at it this way: there are people out there serving our country's intentions overseas. Whether or not you agree with the politician's reasons of sending those troops overseas is another story.
