Clean Seas Tuna (CSS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Stehr Group's aquaculture holding company, Australian Tuna Fisheries. CSS owns hatcheries and at sea farming operations, is advanced in Southern Bluefin Tuna (SBT) breeding and breeds and grows out Kingfish and Mulloway. CSS's products are exported to countries, including the US, the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Japan. CSS has hatchery facilities at Arno Bay and Port Augusta and is located is South Australia.

During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2009 (fiscal 2009), the principal activities of the Company were the propagation of Kingfish, producing fingerlings for sale, as well as the grow out of Kingfish and Mulloway. The Company operates in the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The products of the Company are exported to the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Japan. The wholly owned subsidiary of the Company is Clean Seas Aquaculture Growout Pty Ltd.

Clean Seas Tuna (CSS) operates the first SBT hatchery and growout business in the world. The facilities at Arno Bay allow for the spawning, growing and harvesting of SBT from CSS's own SBT broodstock. CSS achieved a world first in closing the lifecycle of the SBT. CSS is the largest farmer of Yellowtail Kingfish and Suzuki Mulloway in Australia. In 2008, CSS earned the internationally recognised sustainability accreditation and logo mark of the Friend of the Sea organisation. In addition, CSS's customers include international markets, predominantly Japanese buyers in the premium sashimi market. CSS's products are also exported to countries including the US, the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Japan. CSS has hatchery facilities at Arno Bay and Port Augusta and is located is South Australia. Competitors include other aquaculture producers such as Marine Producers Australia (MPA).

Clean Seas Tuna History

Clean Seas Tuna (CSS) was incorporated as a subsidiary of Stehr Group in September 2000 to acquire an existing licensed finfish hatchery at Arno Bay. Since the acquisition, the hatchery has replaced Snapper and Black Bream fingerling production with Kingfish and Mulloway. It now plans to add SBT to its production capability over the next three years. CSS listed on the ASX in December 2005. In 2005, CSS received a $4.1M grant from the federal government to assist in the commercialisation of SBT breeding.
