Australand Assets Trust (AAZ) is a leading diversified property group focused on the development of residential land, housing and apartments; development of commercial and industrial properties; investing in income producing commercial and industrial properties; and property management. Australand listed on the ASX on 19th September, 2005. It listed on the Singapore Securities Exchange in June 1997. Australand has a workforce of about 590 people and it operates in Sydney, Melbourne, South East Queensland and Perth as well as in Asia via its Hong Kong sales office.
AAZ operates through Commercial & Industrial, Residential and Investment Property divisions. In November 2003 the units in Australand Property Trust were stapled to the ordinary shares in Australand Holdings Limited to form Australand into a stapled group. In October 2005, Australand Property Trust No.4 and Australand Property Trust No.5 formed a merger with Australand as a result of which Australand now comprises four listed entities: Australand Holdings Limited, Australand Property Trust, Australand Property Trust No.4 and Australand Property Trust No.5. The securities of these entities are stapled together and they trade on the Australian and Singapore Securities Exchanges as the one stapled security.
As at 31 December 2008, its Investment Property portfolio consisted of 76 properties, including 5 under development properties and a total lettable area of 1.18 million sqm with a total portfolio value of $2.3 billion. Its market capitalisation as at 31 December 2008 was around $432.6 million. CapitaLand Limited, a Singapore based property group is a significant securityholder of Australand, owning around 59% of the issued capital in Australand.
