Aquarius Platinum: Winner of ASX100

Aquarius Platinum (AQP), a company that is engaged in exploration, development and acquisition of platinum group metals was the best performing stocks in ASX100 index for the 32nd week that saw a rise of 15.4 percent or 77 cents in its stock price closing the week at $5.74. It was a mixture of Resource, Exploration, Property, Financial Services, Gaming and Utility companies in the list of the best performing companies in the Australian Stock Exchange for the 32nd week of 2009: Aquarius Platinum (AQP), Aristocrat Leisure (ALL), Suncorp-Metway (SUN), ING Industrial Fund (IIF), Boart Longyear (BLY), Emeco Holdings (EHL). Aristocrat Leisure (ALL), a company that develops gaming machines, software systems and related equipment with operations in Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe was the second best company in ASX100 with a gain of 14.6 percent or 63 cents closing at $4.93. The third place was taken by Suncorp-Metway (SUN), an Australia based financial services group that operates in the insurance, provision of banking, superannuation, funds management products, retail services, and corporate and commercial sector services with a gain of 11.2 percent or 80 cents closing the week at $7.90.

ING Industrial Fund (IIF), Boart Longyear (BLY) and Emeco Holdings (EHL) were the top three performers in the ASX200 index for the week. ING Industrial Fund (IIF), a major investor in the real estate business with a market capitalisation of $391.2 million was the best performing stock among them in the list adding 27.7 percent or 8 cents closing the week at 35 cents. Boart Longyear (BLY) a company that offers drilling products and services to energy, infrastructure, environmental, mining and mineral industries that has a market capitalisation worth of $533.5 million was next in the list that gained 20.3 percent or 6 cents and was closed for the week at 36 cents. Emeco Holdings (EHL), a company with $407.1 million of market capitalisation that primarily concentrates on sales, leasing and parts and maintenance services for heavy earth moving equipments was the third best company in the ASX200 list which added 17.2 percent or 10 cents to its stock price closing at 65 cents. Best performer of the week was VDM Group- an engineering company with 85 percent up before it was suspended near the close on Friday’s trading session on no new declaration.
