ABC Learning: The Best Performing Stock for the Week 26 of 2008

ABC Learning was the overall best performing stock - taking in a 57.53 percent increase in their share price this week. It was a mixture of learning services, energy, support services, and mining companies who were among the best performing stocks for the week 26 of 2008 of the Australian sharemarket: ABC Learning (ABS), Paladin Energy (PDN), Brambles (BXB), Iluka Resources (ILU). These best performing stocks managed gains above 15.32 percent by the end of the trading week.

ABC Learning, which focuses on providing high quality, affordable care and education for families, was the best performing stock for the ASX 100 index seeing 57.53 percent increase, adding 42 cents and closing at $1.15. ABC Learning was followed by Paladin Energy, Australia’s second biggest sole uranium mining company behind Energy Resources, which is majority owned by mining giant Rio Tinto, adding 97 cents, increasing 17.7 percent and closing at $6.45. Brambles, a leading global provider of support services, operating in over 45 countries and employing over 12,000 people, came in the third position for the ASX 100 index adding $1.16 (+15.32%) and closing at $8.73. On the ASX 200 index, ABC Learning was the best performing stock by the end of the trading week. ABC Learning was followed by Paladin Energy securing the second place. Iluka Resources, a mining company involved in the mining and processing of titanium based and zircon products which has operations in Australia and the US, came in the third position for the ASX 200 index adding 70 cents, increasing 17.45 percent and closing at $4.71. Iluka Resources was followed by Brambles securing the fourth position of the list.
