Allco Finance (AFG) was the best performer in the sharemarket taking in a 113% increase in their share price for the week. Among the best performing stocks for the past trading week (week 13 of 2008) on the Australian sharemarket were a mixture of finance and real estate: Allco Finance (AFG), ING Office (IOF), Valad Property (VPG), Transfield Services (TSE), Platinum Asset (PTM). These best performing stocks for week 13 of 2008 recorded gains above 11.4 percent by the end of the trading week. Financial services companies were dominating both the ASX 100 index and the ASX 200 index in the best performing stock list.
Allco Finance, a fully integrated global financial services business specialising in asset origination, funds creation, and funds management, was the top gainer with a remarkable 113% rise, adding 26 cents and closing at 49 cents for the ASX 100 index. Allco Finance was followed by ING Office, the real estate company, securing second place adding 0.15 cents (close $1.24 +13.83%). Valad Property, a value adding property group that encompasses funds management, investment, development and property investment banking, was at the third position for the best performing stocks. On the ASX 200 index, Allco Finance secured the pole position followed by Transfield Services, a company providing operations, maintenance and asset management services in the mining, transport and utility sectors, was at the second position adding $0.29 (close $1.70 +20.57%). Platinum Assets, an Australian based fund manager who specialises in international equities and currently manages A$17.28 billion (31 March 2008) with more than 20% of this from investors in New Zealand, Europe, America and Asia, secured the third position closing at $5.10 and adding 81 cents (+18.9%).
